Telehandler ECU Tuning
Telehandlers are one of the most widely used machines on UK construction sites and agricultural operations, and one of the most under-remapped. The factory ECU map is conservative — designed to protect across every possible operator and condition globally. On a well-maintained machine with an experienced operator, that conservatism costs you real performance.
A telehandler remap improves low-end torque delivery for lifting heavy loads at full reach, throttle response when the machine is working hard on uneven ground, and fuel efficiency across a full day's site work. We cover the full telehandler range — from compact 7-metre machines to 35-metre high-reach models.
We work from our Pontypool workshop or come to site anywhere in the UK, and can address Adblue, DPF, and EGR issues at the same visit.
What's Included
- Workshop (Pontypool) or on-site service
- Full diagnostic assessment before any work
- Custom ECU calibration for your telehandler
- Post-remap verification and lift test
Benefits
Why Choose This Service
More Lift Performance
Increased low-end torque means the telehandler lifts heavier loads more confidently at full reach. In operations regularly working near rated capacity, this headroom has direct productivity and safety value.
Better Response on Site
Improved throttle response means more controlled lifting and placement — particularly on rough ground where the machine is working hard to maintain stability while handling the load.
Fuel Savings on Full Shifts
Telehandlers running all day on a busy site burn significant diesel. Fuel savings of 8–12% are typical — meaningful on high-utilisation site plant running multiple shifts.
Agricultural Telehandler Remapping
Farm telehandlers — JCB 535, Manitou MLT, Merlo Turbofarmer — benefit from the same remapping gains. More bale-handling power, better hydraulic response for muck spreading, improved fuel economy in the field.

Common Questions
Do you cover both construction and agricultural telehandlers?
Yes — construction telehandlers (JCB Loadall 525–560, Manitou MRT) and agricultural telehandlers (JCB 535/541, Manitou MLT, Merlo Turbofarmer) are both within our capability.
Can I bring my telehandler to your workshop?
Yes. Our Pontypool workshop handles telehandlers up to the size that can be driven or transported to us. For very large high-reach machines, an on-site visit is usually more practical.
How long does a telehandler remap take?
2–3 hours at the workshop or on site. Combined emissions fault resolution may extend the visit slightly.
Will the remap affect the telehandler's load chart?
No. The remap calibrates the engine ECU — it does not affect the load management system, stability control, or certified load chart. The machine's rated capacity and safety systems are unchanged.
Do you remap JCB Loadall telehandlers?
Yes — JCB 524, 525, 527, 531, 535, 536, 540, 541, 560 Loadall models across the full range. JCB telehandlers respond very well to ECU remapping, with consistent gains across the range.
