Road Planer & Milling Machine ECU Tuning
Road planers and surface milling machines are high-power, high-consumption machines that run at continuous load across long working shifts. The milling drum demands constant engine power and the fuel consumption is significant — a large cold planer burns 60–100+ litres per hour under load.
A road planer remap optimises the engine for the consistent high-load demand of milling — better power delivery to the drum under varying depth and forward speed conditions, improved fuel efficiency, and more responsive throttle when cutting depth or forward speed changes.
We cover half-lane, lane, and full-lane milling machines and attend on-site across the UK.

Benefits
Why Choose This Service
More Drum Power
Better fuel delivery under the constant load of the milling drum — more consistent cutting performance when depth or material hardness changes, with less power droop on tough sections.
Fuel Savings Under Load
Road planers burn serious diesel at full load. An 8–12% efficiency gain from better combustion calibration is significant on machines burning 60–100 litres per hour.
Better Forward Speed Consistency
Improved engine response under load means more consistent forward speed when cutting depth or material resistance changes — better surface quality and less wear on cutting tools.
Adblue and DPF Solutions
Modern road planers fitted with Adblue (SCR) systems are prone to faults in road construction environments. We address Adblue and DPF issues at the same site visit.

Common Questions
Do you cover Wirtgen cold planers?
Yes — Wirtgen W50, W100, W150, W200, W210, W220, W250 and the full W-series range are within our capability. Wirtgen machines use MTU, Caterpillar, and Cummins diesel engines.
How do you access the ECU on a road planer?
We use OBD and direct ECU access appropriate to the specific engine and machine brand. We arrive with the correct interfaces for the major milling machine manufacturers.
Can you remap a Caterpillar PM road planer?
Yes — Cat PM102, PM200, PM312, PM313, PM620, PM622 and other PM-series cold planers are within scope. Cat C-series ACERT engines in road planers respond well to ECU remapping.
How long does a road planer remap take?
2–4 hours on site. We schedule around the milling programme to minimise disruption to road works.
Is it possible to remap a road planer while it is on an active site?
Yes — we work with the site agent and plant operator to schedule the remap at the start or end of a shift. The machine is typically back in production within a single shift.
