Piling Rig ECU Tuning

Piling rigs are among the most demanding machines in the construction plant fleet — high hydraulic power demand, continuous rotary loading, and crowd force requirements that push the engine hard in all conditions. The factory ECU calibration is conservative across the full power envelope.

A piling rig remap improves rotary torque for penetrating hard formations, crowd force for maintaining bit pressure in difficult ground, and engine response under the variable load of the rotary drive. The gains are most pronounced on rigs drilling in hard rock, dense clay, or gravel formations.

Piling rig remapping is a specialist service requiring expertise in the ECU systems used on foundation equipment. We attend on-site and plan the visit to minimise impact on the drilling programme.

Benefits

Why Choose This Service

More Rotary Torque

Increased torque at the rotary drive means faster penetration in hard formations, better performance in sticky clay, and fewer tool pulls per pile. Reduced drilling time per pile directly reduces project cost.

Better Crowd Force

Improved engine response under crowd load means better bit pressure control in variable ground conditions — more consistent hole quality and less risk of tool sticking in difficult formations.

Faster Cycle Times

Better rotary and crowd performance reduces the drilling time per pile. On a piling programme with a fixed number of piles, faster cycle times reduce the overall programme duration.

Emissions Solutions

Piling rigs operating on groundworks sites with varying loads are prone to DPF issues. We address Adblue and DPF faults at the same site visit where required.

Common Questions

Do you cover CFA rigs as well as rotary piling rigs?

Yes — continuous flight auger (CFA) rigs, rotary piling rigs, and percussion piling rigs are all within scope. The ECU calibration approach varies by machine type.

How do you work around an active piling programme?

We schedule the site visit at the start or end of a shift or during a planned break in the piling programme — typically 2–4 hours for the remap.

Can you remap Liebherr LB piling rigs?

Yes — Liebherr LB16, LB20, LB24, LB28, LB30, LB36, and LB44 piling rigs are within our capability. Liebherr piling rigs use Liebherr diesel engines that respond well to ECU remapping.

Will the remap affect the kelly bar speed or rotary head settings?

No — the remap calibrates the engine ECU. The hydraulic rotary head speed, kelly bar configuration, and crowd settings are controlled by the rig's machine control system, which is not affected.

Do you cover Bauer BG piling rigs?

Yes — Bauer BG12, BG20, BG28, BG36, and BG50 are within our capability. Bauer piling rigs use Mercedes-Benz and Liebherr diesel engines.
