Mobile Crane ECU Tuning
Mobile cranes — all-terrain, truck-mounted, and rough terrain — run powerful diesel engines that power both the travel drive and the crane's hydraulic and slew systems. The factory ECU map is calibrated conservatively for durability and global market compliance.
A mobile crane remap improves engine response for hoisting operations, power delivery for travel on site, and fuel efficiency across a full day's crane operations. The gains in hoisting response and slew speed are particularly noticeable on high-utilisation cranes running continuous lift cycles.
Mobile crane remapping is a specialist service requiring the right ECU access equipment. We attend on-site and work with the crane team to plan the visit around the lift programme.
What's Included

Benefits
Why Choose This Service
Better Hoisting Response
Improved engine response means the winch and hydraulic system reacts faster to operator commands — more precise load control, faster hook speeds, and better performance at high radius where the engine works hardest.
Faster Slew Performance
Better power delivery through the slew drive system means faster and more controlled slew — important on congested sites where cycle time is limited by slew speed rather than lift capacity.
Improved Travel Performance
All-terrain cranes travelling on road and across site benefit from improved engine torque at travel speeds — particularly on gradients with the counterweight fitted.
Fuel Savings on All-Day Operations
Cranes on full-day lift programmes burn significant diesel. Even a modest fuel saving per machine per day adds up across a long project.

Common Questions
Do you remap all-terrain cranes as well as truck-mounted cranes?
Yes — all-terrain cranes (Liebherr LTM, Grove GMK, Tadano AC), rough terrain cranes, and truck-mounted cranes are all within our capability.
How do you access the ECU on a mobile crane?
We use OBD and direct ECU access as appropriate for the specific crane model. We arrive with the correct interfaces for the major crane manufacturers.
Will the remap affect the crane's rated capacity or load chart?
No. The remap calibrates the engine ECU — it does not affect the crane's load management system, rated capacity, or certified lift chart.
Do you remap the travel engine and the crane engine separately?
Some mobile cranes have separate engines for travel and crane operations; others use a single engine for both. We advise on the approach for your specific machine when you enquire.
How do we plan the site visit around the lift programme?
We work with your lift supervisor to schedule the remap visit around the lift programme — typically at the start or end of a shift to minimise disruption. 2–4 hours for a standard mobile crane remap.
